3 Things You Need to Know to Achieve Your Dreams

Living your dreams in your 20s is possible for you. I wanted to start off with this reminder, because I know that most of you have some doubt in your heart whether you can do it and deserve it. All of us have the potential to reach our dreams.

I want to share my favorite bible verse here to encourage you:

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” (Ephesians 3:20 NKJV)

"Exceedingly, abundantly, above..." God is reminding us that there is a reason why He put certain dreams in our hearts and that His word is enough to cling to for us to trust that He will do it.

In this blog post, I'm going to share the three things you need to know if you want to be truly successful and achieve your dreams in your 20s.

You Need a God-Given Vision

For you to live your dreams as a 20-something, you need clarity when it comes to your dreams and goals in life. Think about it—when you want to use your GPS to go somewhere, you need to input both your current destination and your final destination. It doesn't mean you need to have your life planned down to the T, but you need to have a general vision as to where you want to be.

More than that, these dreams should align with God's purpose for you. You shouldn't decide on them based merely on what the world thinks is cool, what other people want for you, or what society pressures you to achieve.

Give yourself ample time to reflect on your WHY (i.e. Why do you wake up everyday? What is your life purpose? What is God calling you to do?). Then, list down the desires of your heart and see to it that it aligns with your purpose.

Believing in Yourself Matters but Trusting God Matters More

Overcoming imposter syndrome is one of the biggest challenges we face as 20-something's. It is easy to feel unqualified for our goals, and most of the times, this is what makes us play it safe.

But, remember that God doesn't call the qualified; instead, He qualified those He's called. He only need you to say YES to the dreams He's planted in your heart, to be a willing and obedient steward. And then, watch what He does.

Another thing is that the world tells us that we only have to believe in ourselves to achieve our biggest dreams. I've realized, however, that my strength and willpower is not enough. In all honesty, when God called me to write the Faith Steps book, I didn't feel confident that I can do it. Instead, I put my confidence in God.

We have to know that the end of us is the beginning of Him. Sometimes, all we have to do is surrender our dreams, obey what He calls us to do, and trust that He will do what He says.

Dreams Without Faith and Action Is Useless

Dreaming is good but it is not enough to get to your dreams. You need to acknowledge that without faith and action, your dreams aren't going to make an impact in your life and others.

For you to achieve your dreams in your 20s, you need to have faith that God will lead you to achieve it and then, you need to take action. You need to take even the smallest steps to get there, even when it's hard or scary.

On writing my Faith Steps book, I made up excuses on why I couldn't take action. I told God that I was too young to write a book, that nobody would care about my message, and that I am extremely inexperienced to pen a personal development book. But, I still chose faith over fear. I wouldn't have achieved my dream to become an author if I stayed within my comfort zone.

God is waiting for you to act on your dreams. The question is, are you ready to take your faith steps to get there?

To wrap up, achieving your dreams in your 20s is very much possible for you but you need to check if your dreams are aligned with God's purpose in your life, believe in yourself and believe in God more, and take the necessary action steps to your dreams.

Are you a young dreamer who wants to overcome the fears that are blocking you from being truly successful and achieving your dreams?
